But because the artists are left to interpret their preferred subject in their habitual styles, and because no pretense is made to harmonize the different idioms, the show is barabara, which is not to imply that the resulting handiwork is inferior. The suffix "bay" indicates the artists are comrades and friends.       That the show did not gather a large crowd is due partly to the forecasted typhoon Quinta and the usual Friday evening rush-hour traffic. My urologist suggested a biopsy to determine whether I have a prostate cancer. I had a biopsy on August 16, at 7 in the morning after an overnight at the hospital. In the car on the way home: Expressing her apprehension, my wife said: "Sana walang cancer daddy mo". My daughter: "Mommy, naman!" Me: "Well, someone has to die of something. Honestly, I would rather have cancer than be paralyzed from neck down. It would be a torture to think of a picture and be unable to move one's hand to paint it." I said it as a way of consoling them and encouraging myself. "Cancer"... what a dreaded word! But the malady itself is not that fearsome. My sister had breast cancer six years ago, was found to have lung cancer too, and she survived. Congrats to  Joey Ibay who thought, plan, and put up the show with three remarkable pieces of his own in his free and energetic brushstrokes. Congrats to  Nannette Yatco who is exhibiting for the first time. Congrats to Eros Basilio on his inaugural show with the Kulay Art Group. Congrats to Noel Rile for coming up with the largest painting in the show. Congrats to JR Bautista, Bong Gojar, Tam Urao, and Alex Gonzales for their outstanding works expressive of  their unique style and technique.
